It’s December 23rd, what do you know?
The shopping is done and outside there is snow.
But inside, oh inside, are all kinds of stuff,
That tells me I’m blessed, and it’s no holiday fluff.
There’s caramels and fudge and hot cocoa, too,
All topped with bright ribbons and red glitter glue,
There’s cranberry candles, and chex mix with nuts,
And round fancy cheeses and salami cuts.
They’re gifts from my neighbors and family and friends,
I have cards of all kinds from the earth at both ends.
These are gestures that smile, presented with love,
All witnessed by Christmas stars gleaming above.
It wouldn’t have mattered if they gave us twigs,
It’s the time that they spent, and nothing reneges,
On the wish of their hearts that fills mine with peace.
I’m one fortunate gal and life has a new lease.
So thank you, and thank you, and thank you again,
For taking the time and being my friend,
Whether I’ve known you a lifetime, or a moment or two,
Merry Christmas, and may all your good wishes come true!
You have served up a wonderful holiday poem. Best wishes for the season.
